DESCRIPTION:Join textile expert Morag Platt for a workshop on Rag-rugging. Rag work used to be common in rural\, mining and fishing communities where every scrap of fabric had to be reused in some way. This traditional craft involves hooking or prodding strips of fabric into a mesh (usually hessian) base\, and can be used to recycle textiles into rugs\, wall-hangings\, bags\, cushion covers\, pictures and many other household objects. \nThis session will show examples of rag work items and introduce the basic techniques. You will start your own piece of rug which you can then take home and finish. All materials and equipment will be provided. \nClasses are small to ensure you get the personal tuition you need. Luckily\, this is simple and easy to do yourself once you know how! \nCome along to our workshop with IT expert Sherv and learn how to clear your iPad’s memory\, clean the screen\, optimise battery life\, back up your data and keep it protected and bug free. \nOur small class will ensure that there is plenty of time to ask questions. DESCRIPTION:Come and turn an old piece of furniture into a thing of beauty with designer Clarabella Christie. In this one day course\, you will be upcycling a small piece of furniture that you will take away at the end of the day. You’ll learn all the skills and techniques in furniture upcycling that you can then apply to other pieces of furniture at home. \nA tasty lunch will be provided at the on site cafe. DESCRIPTION:Join textile designer Clarabella Christie in this fun workshop. Learn how to make stylish cushions to brighten up your abode from recycled fabrics. We will be sewing on machines and learning some basic applique techniques. \nSuitable for beginners and advanced stitchers. All welcome! \nWe’ll provide sewing machines\, equipment\, tools and materials. However\, if you have a cushion pad or material you would like to use\, or a sewing machine you would like to work on\, feel free to bring them along. \nClarabella Christie is an experienced textile designer who runs courses and workshops in Dunfermline.
