SUMMARY:Plate Up for Fife
DESCRIPTION:The food we buy and eat has an impact on Climate Change in many ways. In this 2-part programme of workshops we will look at how we can make more climate-friendly food choices in our daily lives. Join us for our Plate Up for Fife workshop programme where we will focus on two themes: \nWorkshop 1: Reducing our food waste -Thursday 23rd May- 6pm – 8pm. We will be talking about common foods that get thrown away and exploring ways to change that. You’ll also be making a dish with leftovers! \nWorkshop 2: Eating locally and seasonally – Thursday 30th May 6pm-8pm. We’ll be talking about the benefits of eating with the seasons and ways to access local ingredients and you’ll make a dish using seasonal vegetables. \nWe’ll also be discussing ways we can reduce our meat and dairy consumption\, reduce packaging and eat healthily. It’s important to attend both workshops to get the full benefit of the programme. Please do not book if you have attended a Plate Up for Fife Workshop in the past. \nThere will be lots of information to share about the workshop topics to help generate discussion and have fun learning from each other! \nPlate Up for Fife is part of Climate Action Fife – a Fife-wide partnership project\, bringing together individuals\, communities\, local government and businesses to tackle the climate emergency. It is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund. \nThis is a hands-on cooking class where you will be touching\, tasting\, and cooking food. Please bring containers so you take the food you make home. \nIf you have any dietary requirements or allergies\, or if you would like to talk about any of the ingredients we will be using in the workshop\, please let us know when you are booking. \nThis event takes place in our Lang Spoon Community Kitchen in Greener Kirkcaldy’s Community Building. Find out how to get here. \nBooking Information\nThis event is free but booking is required. Donations are welcome to support the work Greener Kirkcaldy does in the community. \nIf you have any problems booking or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk. \nAccessibility\nThere are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place. There is a ramp into the building and level access throughout. There is also an accessible toilet. Our kitchen has an adjustable cooking station. This is suitable for those in wheelchairs or who need to sit while cooking. \nFull accessibility information can be found on our website. \nIf you have any other accessibility questions or would like the resources at the event to be in large print please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk.

SUMMARY:A Taste of Scandinavia
DESCRIPTION:Hygge – a word in Danish and Norwegian that describes a cosy\, contented mood. \nFood and cooking are a big part of the Hygge philosophy\, especially as we head into colder and darker days. Investing time and energy in homemade and hearty food adds a feeling of Hygge to a gathering around the table. The food itself doesn’t have to be advanced or fancy. If it’s down to earth\, it adds to the Hygge rather than distracting from it. You will leave this class with some foodie ideas to bring some Hygge to your home during the Winter months. \nYou will make: \n• Kød og melboller suppe (Meatball and Dumpling soup): This is a comforting vegetable broth filled with meat dumplings and sure to warm you up. A veggie/vegan version will be available. \n• Kanelsnegl (cinnamon buns): These are a staple in Denmark\, and are enjoyed at any time of the day or year. This recipe lets you bake them to your own preference\, whether you like them gooey or crispy. \nWe will also demonstrate how to make hasselback potatoes with gruyere and rosemary\, which is a wonderful warming side dish for any main course and is especially good at this time of year. \nThis is a hands-on cooking class. All food made can be taken away and enjoyed at home. Please remember to bring your own containers to take home your creations. \nPlease wear appropriate clothing for a kitchen environment e.g. closed-toed shoes. Aprons will be provided. \nIf you have any dietary requirements or allergies\, or you would like to talk about any of the ingredients we will be using in the workshop\, please let us know when you are booking. We plan to use. \nThis workshop will be led by Kat Riach. Kat runs her own bakery at Lochaber Farm. She is a passionate breadmaker and loves sharing her skills with others. Kat also works with Greener Kirkcaldy. \nThis event takes place in our Lang Spoon Community Kitchen in Greener Kirkcaldy’s Community Building. Find out how to get here. \n\n\n\n\nBooking Information\nFull price: £35 \nCouples/Friends (2 people sharing station + ingredients): £55 \nGreener Kirkcaldy members/volunteers: £31.50 \nConcessions*: £28 \n*Students (full time)\, Senior Citizens (65+)\, eligible benefits (Income Support\, Working Tax Credit\, Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance\, Income based Employment and Support Allowance\, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit). \nIf you wish to book using a Greener Kirkcaldy Gift Voucher\, please call us on 01592 858458. \nIf you have any problems booking\, or any questions\, please phone 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk. \n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\nThere are accessible parking bays available outside 8 East Fergus Place with a ramp into the building and level access throughout.
