SUMMARY:Big spring plant and seed swap
DESCRIPTION:Come and swap your seedlings with other gardeners! \nWe’ve all been there – sow a whole packet of tomato seeds and end up with 20 plants of the same variety and you only have space to plant 5 of them! \nWhy not bring down your spare plants and swap them with other gardeners\, to end up with more variety and less plants going to waste. \nThis could be fruit\, veg\, edible\, ornamental or houseplants to tiny seedlings or big established plants. Even if you don’t have anything to swap but would like to take home some plants\, we will be growing some extras to give away with the option of giving a donation to cover costs. Feel free to bring in any seeds you have saved from your garden\, or packets you won’t get round to sowing. \nOn the day\, we will set out plants by type\, aiming to have everything to be swapped laid out by 7pm; and then have 10 minutes of viewing before the swapping begins! We recommend pots rather than trays\, even eggboxes or yoghurt pots can work. \nBooking Information\nThe event is free but booking is required. You can choose to purchase a ticket with a donation. Donations help us do more work in our community. \nOur booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events. SUMMARY:Climate Friendly Gardens - Introduction to Forest Gardening
DESCRIPTION:Forest gardens are food producing systems which mimic natural woodland\, supporting biodiversity whilst providing an abundant harvest. You don’t need any big trees to get started though! Even small gardens or allotment plots can become food forests. \nThis interactive session will introduce the key ideas behind forest gardening\, and how you can apply them in your own growing space. We will use the garden at Ravenscraig as a live example to look at how the principles can be applied. \nJanice Gibson is a keen gardener with an interest in permaculture. She designed and implemented the forest garden at PLANT in Tayport\, and helps to maintain it. \nThis workshop should be of interest to all gardeners\, from the more seasoned to absolute beginners! \nWe will provide tea/coffee and biscuits\, but there also will be the chance to try homemade herb teas and fruit leathers. \nBooking Information\nThe event is free but booking is required. You can choose to purchase a ticket with a donation. Donations help us do more work in our community. \nOur booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events. Any information you choose to share about your background is managed separately to information that you give us to process your booking (for example\, your name). \nIf you are having trouble booking you can call 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk for assistance. \nAccessibility\n\nThere are disabled parking spaces on site. Please note the terrain is mostly flat and the paths are gravel. The venue is outdoors with the exception of the working cabin. \nThis event will usually take place in the orchard area of our gardens which is not recommended for wheelchairs due to steep access and narrow and uneven pathways\, let us know if you would have issues getting to the orchard area as we can adapt the workshop to take place in a more accessible area.
