SUMMARY:A taste of the Mediterranean – Exploring the Blue Zone way of life
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Taste of the Mediterranean workshop where we will make 3 authentic dishes and discuss the Blue Zone approach to food and life. \nThe Mediterranean has two of the world’s five Blue Zones – areas where people live longer and are healthier. In part this is due to their diet and the ingredients they use which includes lots of fruit\, vegetables and legumes\, olive oil and wholegrains. Using fresh and seasonal ingredients to bring out the natural flavour of the dishes. The cuisine is made up simple ingredients that are local to the region. \nIn this class we will make… \nMinestrone longevity soup – made with seasonal vegetables\, beans and olive oil \nBriam – Greek mixed roasted vegetables \nFlatbreads – quick pita breads made with yoghurt \nWe’ll also demonstrate and taste an easy bean and artichoke dip. \nAll recipes are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Our workshops are fun and informal\, our tutor will support you to prepare the recipes. \nWe’ll chat about the Mediterranean diet and what to include in a healthier approach to cooking and eating.
