A Taste of Hygge – Danish Winter Recipes
Tuesday 7th December : 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
£20 – £55
Hygge is a Danish concept, which means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. “Hygge” is pronounced “hue-gah” and is especially important on cold, dark winter nights, but can happen all year round!
The workshop will introduce you to some traditional Danish recipes enjoyed by Danes in their everyday cooking.
In this workshop, you will learn how to create the following dishes:
- “Boller i karry” Meatballs in a mild curry sauce accompanied by rice and a fresh carrot salad.
- “Agurke salat” pickled cucumber relish.
- “Koldskaal med kammerjunkere” A dessert enjoyed cold topped with small double-baked cookies.
We will also taste some of Denmark’s famous open sandwiches (commonly known as Smörgåsbord, although this is a Swedish term) which are slices of rye bread with a range of toppings.
All dishes you make can be taken away and enjoyed at home, and we will arrange for a suitable for a plant-based diet alternative if required.
This workshop will be led by our Community Chef Iain Mclellan. A skilled and talented Head Chef with over 20 years cooking experience, and Ea O’Neill our resident Danish member of staff. Iain is passionate about world cuisines and sharing his love of flavour combinations. Ea is Danish and has lived in Scotland for the past 20 years.
Some cooking skills are required in this workshop i.e. basic knife skills. Please bring some containers to take home your food. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know when you are booking.
