Work starts on the community orchard – new volunteers welcome
We’ve started work this week on the new community orchard at Ravenscraig Walled Garden. The site was very overgrown – it was hard even to see what was there under the banks of nettles and huge thistles! Over the last 2 days contractors have done an amazing job chopping down most of these thistles, nettles and all the plants we did not want on the site, leaving the beautiful wild flower patches.
The site is now looking much more manageable and we are looking for volunteers to help us clear the rest and prepare the site for planting trees, bushes and soft fruit. Lots of work still to be done but it’s good to have made a start!
If you are interested in volunteering or to find out more, please email jackie[at]greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk.
There are more photos on our Facebook page - thank you, volunteers Will and Stuart for these great pictures!
