Join our Management CommitteePosted on 24th July 2018 by geraldine
Greener Kirkcaldy is looking for 2 new volunteer management committee members (trustees) to help shape the direction and development of the organisation.
Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity, working on a local scale to benefit people and our environment. We would like to see a future where everyone is able to heat their home affordably, eat well, and tread more lightly on our planet. We work towards that by delivering practical projects to meet the needs and aspirations of local people: tackling fuel and food poverty, protecting and enjoying the environment, and bringing the community together. We currently have 18 paid employees, and around 50 regular volunteers. More information about us.
We want to make the organisation more financially sustainable and are exploring options for developing green social enterprises, including our Community Food Hub project and further developing our community energy work. Now is a great time to join our management committee and help shape this important work.
An interest in environmental issues and our local community is essential, but in-depth or technical knowledge is not needed. We’re looking for people who will help us stay true to our values, challenge us to improve our services, and identify new opportunities. You must share our values of caring for the environment, social justice, and community development. In addition, we would like one of the new management committee volunteers to have experience in voluntary sector management and social enterprise.
We’ll ask you to attend board meetings, which are held every 6 weeks, and contribute a few hours of volunteer time to the charity each month. You’ll get the opportunity to help bring real benefits locally, apply your experience to exciting projects, and develop new skills within a friendly and committed team. Our management committee members are unpaid but we do pay reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
